We Care Bears Project

Hi friends, usually I come to you to share what I've been up to, but today I have a request. My little sister (who was adopted a year ago today) is selling Girl Scout cookies. She's working really hard at it, but has speech problems and is very hard to understand - despite this she and I went out for two hours and tried to sell cookies last night. She was very brave and tried to talk to everyone even though she knew they wouldn't understand her. So I come to you, my friends, my supporters, and ask if you could support my sister. Just click the link
They even have gluten free cookies and an option to donate cookies to the men and women serving our country in the military. OR, here's a great idea in keeping with the We Care Bears spirit....why not buy some cookies and take them to YOUR local first responders!! I know they'd love a box or a dozen.
Thank you for considering this...

It was an AMAZING week, thanks to three great police departments.
This week of thanks and giving started on Monday, which also was World Kindness Day. I had the pleasure of delivering 30 bags of We Care Bears to Winter Park Police Department.
Friday, I was so happy to be able to take 40 bags of bears to the UCF Police Department. UCF is my first choice college when I graduate from high school so this was a special delivery, maybe one day I'll be student here.
And today we ended the week with 6 bags of bears to Casselberry PD.
THANK YOU to everyone that welcomed me into your departments this week and a big thank you for GIVING We Care Bears to kids you meet on calls who may be scared or injured. Just in case you are curious - that is 760 stuffed animals headed out to with police officers and fire fighters in central Florida....it ended up being a lovely week of THANKS and GIVING.

You know what’s more fun than a party on your birthday?
A bear delivery. I had such a great time today delivering 50 stuffed animals to the Apopka Police Department.
Thank you to everyone for being so so nice to me. It was great to meet everyone and share my birthday with you.

Make A Difference Day is one of my favorite days of the year. Volunteers from across the country unite to make today, one of the largest annual single-days of service nationwide. Since 1992, volunteers and communities have come together on Make A Difference Day with a single purpose: to improve the lives of others. Make A Difference Day is made possible by you and the people of TEGNA with support from Arby’s Foundation and Points of Light.
This year for Make A Difference Day I decided to make a difference by delivering bags of stuffed animals instead of having a big bagging event, and although it was smaller than in the years past, I was so happy to have Mr. Tom volunteer, with his help We Care Bears was able to deliver 350 bears to first responders today alone!!!
Make A Difference Day is always the fourth Saturday in October. I want to encourage everyone to get out and make a difference every day, and next October I hope you’ll find a local project, maybe even mine, to join on Make A Difference Day.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out to make sure we are safe. Hurricane Irma is pounding Florida right now, but we are positioned just above Orlando in the middle of the state so are pretty safe. We have made all the preparation we can so now it's just a matter of waiting out the storm. We are blessed our home is well built and safe, many are not so lucky and shelters have open at my school, Apopka High School and at Apopka Middle school. I know the kids must be very scared at the shelters so I took 10 bags of bears to the high school and 4 bags of bears to the middle school (it wasn't nearly as full).
Stay safe everyone.

I feel like it has taken me a while to get We Care Bears off the ground in Florida - but slow and steady wins the race...or at least that's what my Dad says.
But, today I want to thank everyone at Tampa Fire Department. I was so happy to be able to donate 14 bags of We Care Bears....that's more than 100 stuffed animals destined for the arms of kids in unbearable situations.

Look what came in the mail yesterday!!! It was such a surprise. I love Disney and receiving a Disney Dreamers and Doers Award is really special. Moving to Florida has been hard, starting my work here has been hard, I don’t know anyone and no one has really heard of We Care Bears. But I’m working hard to change that.
I love my work, and helping kids when they are at their most vulnerable. I haven’t been doing a great job of keeping my website updated, but summer is coming and I won’t have homework, so I’ll keep you all much more updated then. But until then, I have a couple of big donations, PROMISE I’ll take pictures (or mom will) and update the website!

Life here is Florida has been very different than San Diego. I’m taking all advanced placement classes in my last year of Middle School, was invited to BETA Club, and have been accepted into the Engineering Program at high school. BUT We Care Bears is still going strong.
Today I had the pleasure of donating 100 stuffed animals to Ms. Edwards. Ms. Edwards visits local nursing homes and gives stuffed animals to the residents. She said that they enjoy the stuffed animals as much as kids do and they find them very therapeutic.
I got the stuffed animals prepared before school today and mom forgot to get a picture but I’ll as Ms. Edwards if she could take a picture of one of the residents with one for you guys.

Make A Difference Day is ONE day of service that keeps giving. Today we were able to donate 20 bags of We Care Bears to Apopka Police and Apopka Fire Departments. It was so nice to get to meet everyone, even the Major of Apopka came out.
Thank you so much to Wolf Lake Middle School, Wolf Lake Elementary School, the Beta Club and their advisors, Principal Grimando, Major Kilsheimer, and everyone from Apopka Police and Fire who came out today.
I can't wait to see what life has in store for me in Apopka...I think it's going to be pretty amazing.
I hope you all enjoyed Make A Difference Day as much as I did....looking forward to next year!!!

This is only the first month I've been at my new school so I really didn't know if a Make A Difference Day Bear Drive or Bagging Event would be sucessful at all BUT BOY WAS IT.
Between Wolf Lake Middle School and Wolfe Lake Elementary School there were 250 stuffed animals donated. That's incredible.
But you know what was even MORE incredible.....our Make A Difference Day Bagging Event. We were able to sort, bag and tag more 550 stuffed animals and created 75 bags of stuffed animals that wil go to first responders all over Orange County, Florida. There may not have been a lot of us this event, be were mighty, and efficient and together WE MADE A DIFFERENCE.
